Welcome to the first day of the Ayurveda Detox!
I love this cleanse more and more each time I do it. Doing this cleanse is one of the best ways to stay in harmony with nature, rejuvenate the detox pathways, and flush out accumulated toxins that may be predisposing us to ill health, poor mood, decreased immunity, and fatigue!
You should have downloaded the Colorado Cleanse eBook from your Welcome Lesson, where there is further detail regarding each aspect of the cleanse. If you haven't had time to read that yet, no worries! I will guide you each step of the way with these daily emails.
However, I highly encourage you to read the book thoroughly, as it is a great resource to answer your questions and will allow you to have a deeper understanding of how and why this cleanse works so well - and why I recommend for you to do the specific aspects of this cleanse!
Here are some tips as we begin:
Start Your Cleanse Herbs (or their alternatives):
15 Minutes BEFORE Meals. Take These Herbs With 12 oz. of Water:
Sugar Destroyer:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- Sugar Destroyer helps to stabilize blood sugar levels and makes the transition from six meals a day to three doable - and even preferable. It also helps reduce cravings for sweets or carbs. (More info on page 44 of the Colorado Cleanse book.)
Warm Digest or Cool Digest:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- Both of these formulas increase digestive strength and help with digestive imbalances. (More info on pages 44-45.)
Beet Cleanse:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- Beet Cleanse is a unique formulation designed to flush stagnant bile from the biliary tubes in the liver and the bile, as well as the cystic and pancreatic ducts. (More info on page 42.)
15 Minutes AFTER Meals Take These Herbs with 12 oz. of Water:
Manjistha:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- Manjistha is one of the best destagnators for the lymphatic system, which drains the wastes from your body, plus controls and regulates your immune system. (More info on page 40.)
Turmeric Plus:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- Turmeric is one of the best herbal formulas to thin the mucus and heal the intestinal skin or epithelium. When the mucus membranes become too dry or produce excessive reactive mucus, digestion can become congested. Turmeric Plus helps pull excess reactive mucus off the villi of the intestinal tract, and stimulates the flow of the lymph, which drains the gut, thins the bile, and decongests the liver. (More info on pages 40-41.)
Liver Repair:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- Liver Repair is a unique formula that strengthens and nourishes the liver, while cleansing and also thinning the bile. When the liver becomes congested, the bile becomes too thick, which slows and sometimes stops the liver's ability to digest fats and toxins as well as it once did. (More info on page 41-42.)
Regenerate:
- Take 1 capsule, 3 times per day.
- For millennia, Shilajit has been touted as the best carrier of energy and nutrition into the human body, in addition to being one of the best detoxifiers. (More info on page 43.)
What to Eat
- Each day eat: 1-2 Beet Tonics, 1-2 Green Tonics, and 3-5 apples eaten after meals (or apple alternatives on page 129).
- Eat a low-fat, whole, unprocessed food, seasonal diet of whole grains, legumes, soup, salad, fruit, vegetables and seeds (recipes starting on page 92). Add lean meat or a soy-free protein drink if needed (see details on adding protein on page 37).
- See the Foods to Avoid list in Appendix 1.
- Eat 3 meals a day without snacking. If you are used to grazing, start with 4 meals per day and work towards 3. Eat enough at each meal to carry you through to the next meal.

Phase 1 FAQ'S
Q. If I stick to eating 3 meals a day and no snacks, when should I have the Green Tonic, Beet Tonic, and all those apples?
A. Make the Green Tonic, Beet Tonic salad, and apples part of your meals. For instance, a meal can be a bowl of Beet Tonic salad and a Green Tonic. If you need more food, you may add foods from the Seasonal Grocery Lists (page 150-155), or the Recipe Inspirations section, but keep the diet low-fat and allergen-free. If you don't need more food, it's alright if the Beet Tonic, Green Tonics, and apples make up most of your food intake, but you will likely need to add a bit of protein (whole grains, legumes) and fat (1/4 avocado, some seeds) to keep your blood sugar balanced.
Q: What if I am in the routine of doing a vigorous workout each day? How do I go about getting enough food before and after my workout?
A. One of the main goals of this cleanse is to become a better fat burner. Once that is accomplished, the idea is that you can eat a good breakfast, do a vigorous workout several hours later, and still not need any food until lunch - as your body will be calmly burning your fat stores for energy.
However, while we are on the cleanse, we are just starting the process of creating that capability. I recommend that you keep your workout to 12-30 minutes a day during the cleanse, with nasal breathing (see pages 52 and 53). Once the cleanse is over and we have become better fat burners, you may resume your vigorous workout routine if that feels best for you. If you must stick to your regular exercise routine during the cleanse, observe the Nourish Meal Option during Phase 2 (page 74) and eat more protein.
Q: Can I juice my beets and apples together and get them both that way?
A. Yes, that option is available to you and may work well on a busy schedule. However, do keep in mind that by juicing the beets, you are stripping them of the fiber that buffers your body's absorption of their sugars, potentially creating a hit to the blood sugar. While some people can handle this, especially in combination with some protein (whole grains, legumes) and a little fat (seeds, avocado), those with sensitive blood sugar will benefit more from eating the whole beets shredded, as in the Beet Tonic Salad.
More Questions?
Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions in your Colorado Cleanse book. It's highly likely that your question has already been answered there. These are the basics and if you follow these instructions, you will be all set! Of course, there is much greater detail and education in the eBook, so please try to read that too.
My hope is that by now you are feeling ready to begin!
Love,
Ana
