Welcome to New Year Detox!

This is Day 1.

I want to give you a new recipe book with some updated recipes to start of with! I admit that I haven't tried them all, but the coaching group I am a part of contributed to it, so it's a safe bet they are at least decent! In your guidebook, I described sample meal plans for Days 1-3, and alternate meal plans as well.

The first three days are to be considered the most "intense" as they ideally do not have any animal protein and the meals are kept very light. However, there are options for these three days as well as for the rest of the cleanse.

*** The reason for eliminating animal and fish protein during detoxing is to allow the system a break from having to digest protein so that your body can focus on detoxing. Protein is the hardest type of food to digest, and animal protein even moreso.

To help summarize, the cleanse has

3 options:

Option 1 is to follow the cleanse meal plan suggestions without any fish/animal protein for the first three days, then add fish/animal protein for the last 9 days.

Option 2 is to follow the cleanse without any fish or animal protein the entire 12 days. This is probably best for seasoned cleansers that know their protein needs and how to meet them without animal or fish protein.

Option 3 is to allow fish/animal protein as described in the Alternate Meals Plans in the guidebook on all 12 days. Note that these plans vary in where to add in the animal/fish protein on different days. If you are totally new to cleansing and are used to a lot of animal products, and have a deep fear that you will be hungry, you can follow this option. However, know that anyone can do without animal protein for 3 days, and it makes the detoxing much more efficient!

Decide now which you would like to follow - and also allow yourself the fluidity to change once you check in with how you feel. This is winter, and not the time for a hard-core cleanse. Allow this to be cleansing and gentle!

If you stick to the first three days with light food as recommended, that will be plenty for you to kick start your detoxing and reset for the New Year. Then you can get psyched for our next cleanse in the Spring - when you can really go for it;)
