should you try intermittent fasting?

Intermittent fasting (IF) is a great option once you are fat adapted.

Most people are miserable when they start No Sugar, No Flour (NSNF) and IF at the same time. That’s because they’re not fat adapted yet. They feel like sh*t.

IF is not disordered eating. It is simply a way to extend the insulin fast, allowing your body to access stored fat as fuel (i.e. "dining in") and can also help you adjust to the true physical sensations of hunger and gain confidence that skipping a meal (should you need to when you haven’t planned for it). It's not the end of the world.

HUNGER IS NOT AND EMERGENCY

You can handle it. Everyone already fasts each night while we sleep. IF simply extends the fast.

If you want to add IF, there are many different options to consider. Some of the most common are:

:: not eating breakfast,

:: eating breakfast later or eating breakfast but consuming nothing that would create an insulin response (i.e., coffee with full fat cream),

:: an occasional 24 hour fast where you would eat lunch and then fast until lunch the next day,

:: or a reduced eating window where the same amount of food is consumed over a smaller window of time (i.e. 4-6 hours).

IF requires experimenting and deciding what works best for you.

Do you think IF sounds like something you want to consider? ŒŒ

For me I loved it because I never liked breakfast. I hated that people old me it was the most important meal. I was not interested in breakfast - at least not until after 10 or 11am. Thanks goddess I trusted my instinct.

How do you think you might add it?

Does it bring up any fears or concerns for you?

Do you think it would offer you any advantages?

If so, what would those advantages be? Œ

Note: if you have any chronic health conditions or have had issues skipping meals in the past, be sure to consult with your healthcare provider before starting intermittent fasting.Œ
